Calculate cubic meters (CBM) for your shipment. Add multiple carton types, get instant volumetric weight and LCL/FCL recommendations.
CBM stands for Cubic Meter β the standard unit of measurement for cargo volume in international shipping. It is calculated by multiplying the length, width, and height of a carton (in meters). For example, a carton measuring 50cm Γ 40cm Γ 30cm has a volume of 0.06 CBM.
For LCL (Less than Container Load) ocean freight, you are charged per CBM or per 1,000 kg (W/M β weight or measurement), whichever is greater. For air freight, the volumetric weight is calculated as CBM Γ 167, and you pay based on the higher of actual weight vs. volumetric weight.
| Criteria | LCL (Shared Container) | FCL (Full Container) |
|---|---|---|
| Cargo Volume | Under 15 CBM | 15+ CBM |
| Cost | Pay per CBM | Fixed container rate |
| Transit Time | 25β40 days | 20β35 days |
| Best For | Small/medium sellers | High-volume sellers |
