How CBM is calculated: CBM = (Length Γ— Width Γ— Height) Γ· 1,000,000 (when dimensions are in cm). For air freight, volumetric weight = CBM Γ— 167 kg/mΒ³. For ocean freight, LCL is charged per CBM or per 1,000 kg, whichever is greater.

What is CBM in Shipping?

CBM stands for Cubic Meter β€” the standard unit of measurement for cargo volume in international shipping. It is calculated by multiplying the length, width, and height of a carton (in meters). For example, a carton measuring 50cm Γ— 40cm Γ— 30cm has a volume of 0.06 CBM.

For LCL (Less than Container Load) ocean freight, you are charged per CBM or per 1,000 kg (W/M β€” weight or measurement), whichever is greater. For air freight, the volumetric weight is calculated as CBM Γ— 167, and you pay based on the higher of actual weight vs. volumetric weight.
